What is Hope?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists provide a service for people, who are looking for support and treatment for a wide range of mental health and emotional issues.
Therapy can help you to deal with specific problems, cope with a crisis, improve your relationships, or develop better ways of living.
Counselling is more frequently sought at the time of a current crisis, whereas Psychotherapy focuses on issues that may have been embedded over a longer period of time. Hope Counselling and Psychotherapy incorporates a combination of the two services.
Hope Counselling and Psychotherapy work to an Integrative methodology. To put this simply, psychological therapies generally fall into three categories; Systemic therapies which focus on cognitions, behaviours and systems. Psychodynamic therapies which focus on the unconscious relationship patterns that evolves from childhood, and Humanistic therapies which focus on the here and now. In combining the three main psychological categories of talking therapies, Hope Counselling and Psychotherapy will offer you a unique and personalised experience. By working relationally, we will take into consideration how you function as an individual and tailor our service to your specific needs, facilitating change, empowerment and autonomy which will be unique to you.
Counselling and Psychotherapy is a hard profession to monitor, and over the years has received a mixed reputation. We can assure you that Hope Counselling and Psychotherapy works to the BACP ethical framework. The BACP Register is the first psychological therapists' register to be accredited under a new scheme set up by the Department of Health, and administered by an independent body accountable to Parliament, thus will offer you a safe and ethical practice.
Only you can decide whether you wish to try therapy. Just talking to someone confidentially who is not a friend or family member can make all the difference, especially if it is these very people who are at the source of your problems. It can be a great relief to share your worries and fears with someone who acknowledges your feelings and is able to help you discover alternatives, different perspectives and find positive solutions. As a service we will endeavour to help you develop deeper personal insight, better coping strategies, and improved relationships allowing you to live the life you deserve.
